Our History

Fruita Faith Baptist Church held its  first service in the Fruita town hall in May 1955. The first structure, what is now the fellowship hall, was built in 1957 and a beautiful new auditorium was constructed five years later. The church began early  to contribute to the support of missionaries in various places around the world. It currently supports three missionaries in the US and four abroad.

In 1996 the church undertook a bold new program for growth. The plan was to build a new parsonage/church office, another building that would eventually become a youth room, and call a second pastor to develop a comprehensive youth ministry. The plan worked! God blessed, and the church has grown.

Fruita Faith recently purchased property and looks forward one day to building a new facility to accommodate growth and a growing range of ministries.

FFBC voted to affiliate with the New Testament Association of Independent Baptist Churches of America (The NTA for short) in 1986 and has maintained fellowship since. The church also has a long-standing affiliation with the regional Mountain States Baptist Fellowship.

Since its inception Fruita Faith has carefully guarded its independence, meaning that it is completely self-governed and self-supported. No external ecclesiastical body exercises authority over the pastors or congregation. Rather, all matters are determined by a majority vote of the church body. Affiliation with organizations such as the Mountain States Baptist Fellowship are strictly for fellowship and mutual encouragement.
